I think we should have had a boat or ship picture here, as Tom left home on the sea.
And the sea became his new home for years to come, on sail ships, steamships and other things that might float on water. But when asked to join one of the first submarines in Norway he just left as soon as possible…

Did he feel like an immigrant, or just a traveler on sea and land, not able to settle down any place.
So why not start off as a cowboy, search for the golden nuggets, or take down some oversized trees? Railway-building or dam-building, the sea?

He just got to learn to carry and use a gun, and handy as he was, it was easy to do almost anything for him. And he had a thirst for knowing more about all the new technical things too.
